Recipe Ingredients for Dat Nut Loaf

1 egg
2 tbsps butter
1 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cups chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup boiling water

Recipe Directions for Dat Nut Loaf

Sprinkle 1 tsp soda over dates, add 1 cup boiling water and let cool. Melt butter and add sugar. Cream well. Add walnuts and date mixture, then add flour. Lastly add unbeaten egg and cook 1 hour in slow oven ? 300F. I find that it takes longer to bake - about another hour.
