The most wonderful granola you will ever eat. The addition of molasses in this granola gives it a nice tang that is lacking in most granola recipes.

Recipe Ingredients for Dark and chewy granola

10 cup dry Old Fashioned Quaker Oats
120 grams Wheat Germ
3 serving Walnuts
4 oz Pecan Halves
1.5 cup, packed Sugars, Brown
1 cup (8 fl oz) Water
2 tsp Cinnamon, Ground
0.5 cup Oil, Vegetable Corn, Salad Or Cooking
0.5 cup Honey, Strained Or Extracted
8 serving Molasses
1.5 tsp Salt, Table
3 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Almond Extract

Recipe Directions for Dark and chewy granola

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cover two large baking sheets with foil or parchment and spray with cooking spray (if using foil).

  2. Combine oats, wheat germ, and nuts in a very large bowl.

  3. Heat the rest of the ingredients on the stove over medium heat until incorporated and syrupy, but do not boil. Remove from heat.

  4. Pour sugar/oil mixture over oat mixture, and stir until well coated.

  5. Spread mixture onto prepared baking sheets as evenly as possible. Bake 20-30 minutes, stirring every 5-10 minutes. (20 if you like your granola a little softer, 30 minutes if you want it crunchy).

  6. Remove from oven and cool. Add 1-2 cups of dried fruit if desired.
