Beautifully rich moist dark chocolate torte with a smooth, moist, almost mousse like texture, with a very thin hard top and a sweet base to bite into. perfect for valentines, easter, dinner parties or all year round.

Recipe Ingredients for Daniel's Speciality chocolate torte

200 g plain flour
125 g margarine
100 g icing sugar
140 g >70% Dark chocolate
175 g butter
350 g dark brown sugar
100 g plain flour
6 large eggs

Recipe Directions for Daniel's Speciality chocolate torte

  1. pre-heat oven to 200C

  2. blend 200g flour, 125g margarine and 100g icing sugar in a food processor until a white almost bread crumb texture is achieved (do not over process).

  3. take this out of mixer and place into oven proof baking dish. Compress powder down into a crumbly base and side (essentially home made powdery short crust casing).

  4. Blind bake the base in oven for 12-15 mins until it no longer looks totally raw but remove before it starts to brown or rise- remove and leave to cool- once cool check to see base is firm and short crust pastry like.

  5. FILLING: reduce oven temp to 180C.

  6. Melt chocolate with 175g butter and stir so it is smooth (do not burn chocolate- recommended to use a bowl over a saucepan of boiling water to melt these 2 items).

  7. Place sugar, flour & eggs (and if wanted 1/2 tsp vanilla essence) into a mixing bowl and mix until well blended and a nice golden brown colour.

  8. stir in butter and chocolate mixture and stir till well mixed.

  9. pour filling into prepared base and cook for 45 mins- or until literally the filling has just set.

  10. dust with cinnamon and icing sugar if wanted (once cool)- best served cool.
