The key for the BEST sauce ever is to use San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes - you need these! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Marzano_tomato

Recipe Ingredients for Damon's Tomato Basil Sauce

791 ml Tomatoes Whole Plum Italian Style
1 tsp sugar
3 cloves garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
1 dash salt
1 dash pepper
1/4 cup basil

Recipe Directions for Damon's Tomato Basil Sauce

  1. Heat pan with olive oil

  2. Add garlic and stir till golden

  3. Add can tomatoes and cut up so they are smaller pieces

  4. Add fresh basil

  5. Add salt, pepper and sugar (don't forget the sugar, it removes the tart taste!)

  6. Heat till boiling, then reduce and simmer with the lid off. Simmer at least 20 - 30 min. Up to 40 min for a thicker pizza sauce

  7. Can use as pasta sauce, over veggies or thicker as a pizza sauce. The best ever!!!
