Spicy paste-like dish, that's delicious and very good for you too!

Recipe Ingredients for Dahl (from About.com)

1 T. sesame oil
1 cup finely chopped white onion
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 cups water
2 cups chicken broth, fat-free
1 cup dried lentils, rinsed and picked over
1 t. cumin
1 t. coriander
1/4 t. cardamom
1/4 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. cayenne pepper
1 t. salt
2 T. tomato paste

Recipe Directions for Dahl (from About.com)

  1. Saute onion in oil.

  2. Add remaining ingredients, minus the tomato paste.

  3. Bring soup to boil, then cook over medium heat for 20 minutes (may need to add additional water.)

  4. When lentils are tender, add tomato paste and cook for another 10-20 minutes, until tasty.
