Recipe Ingredients for Dad's Delicious White Bread

6 cups all purpose flour, separated
5 tbsp gluten flour
3 tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
4 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
2 cups water
1/4 cup canola oil

Recipe Directions for Dad's Delicious White Bread

  1. Blend together 2 cups of all purpose flour with gluten flour, sugar, salt, yeast in a large bowl. Stir in warmed water (120 - 130F) and oil. Beat vigorously with a wooden spoon for 2 minutes.

  2. Stir in remaining flour a little at a time until dough forms a shaggy, workable mass. Turn to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until dough is elastic and blisters when pulled.

  3. Place dough in large greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap then a towel. Let dough sit for one and a half hours or more in a warm place.

  4. Divide dough in two balls; with greased hands on a greased board, roll out to a long rectangle that is the width of the loaf pan's length. Roll shortwise up into a loaf, pinching dough as you go. Pinch seam together then tuck ends under as you place in a greased loaf pan.

  5. Let rise again for an hour. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 for 45 to 55 minutes, until golden brown on top. Thump on the bottom to check for doneness.

  6. Let cool completely before slicing.
