Use any daal instead of split peas (tuar daal/channa daal)

Recipe Ingredients for Daal

2 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp chopped garlic
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 1/2 tsp salt
250 g split peas
100 g tomato
6 cups water

Recipe Directions for Daal

  1. Heat the oil. Add cumin and let it crackle. Add garlic and fry for 30 seconds. Add tomatoes and fry for a few minutes.

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients. Stir. Add the water and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer till done.
