Sweetened curried lentls and chick peas.

Recipe Ingredients for Curried Pulses

100 g Dried Red Lentils
750 ml water
200 g dried chick peas
1 med onion
15 oz tinned tomatoes
1 tbs garlic paste
2 tbs tomato puree
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1 med apple
2 tbs curry powder
50 g sultanas
300 g dried brown basmati rice
4 tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp dried thyme

Recipe Directions for Curried Pulses

  1. Soak the chick peas in cold water overnight

  2. 40 minutes before starting cooking - in a pan of boiling water simmer the soaked chick peas.

  3. After 25 minutes add the red lentils

  4. Heat a frying pan

  5. Add the oil

  6. When hot add the onion, garlic, salt, pepper, chilli powder, peeled, cored and chopped apple, sultantas & thyme

  7. Once the onion is softened add the drained pulses, tinned tomatoes and tomato puree

  8. Cook for 20 mins on a low hob

  9. Cook rice in water

  10. Drain and serve with the curry sauce
