A good homemade sauce that's great on ribs and poultry.

Recipe Ingredients for Cullen's Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce

1 cup apple juice
1/4 cup apple jelly
1 cup ketchup
1 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbl Molasses
3 tbl light brown sugar (tightly packed)
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp granulated garlic
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp black pepper
2 oz adobo sauce

Recipe Directions for Cullen's Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce

  1. NOTE: The last ingredient says "adobo sauce." What you actually need to use is "Chipotles in Adobo Sauce" but I couldn't get it to show up in the auto recipe. The calories are going to be about the same. Just use two of the peppers with plenty of sauce on 'em instead of 2 oz.

  2. Pour the ketchup into a medium sauce pan over a medium-low heat.

  3. Combine all other ingredients in a blender and blend until the chipotle peppers are liquified.

  4. Pour the blended mix into the ketchup.

  5. Bring to a boil.

  6. Reduce to low.

  7. Simmer for 25 minutes.

  8. This is great to use warm just as your ribs are coming off the smoker, or you can wait for the sauce to cool and refrigerate until needed.

  9. Makes a little more than 2.5 cups. I assumed a 2 TBL-ish serving size.
