A great dish when you want to cut out calories and fat (due to leaving out the crust ) You can also cut calories by leaving out the walnuts...but nuts are so good for you!

Recipe Ingredients for Crustless apple pie

4 granny smith apples
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon (pure ) vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup walnuts
1/2 cup oats
3/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce

Recipe Directions for Crustless apple pie

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees

  2. Peel 4 large granny smith apples

  3. Slice them and place in large bowl combining them with lemon juice, 3/4 of a cup of the brown sugar (reserve the other 1/4 cup for later) vanilla extract and cinnamon.

  4. Toss them together.

  5. Place in glass or enamled dish.

  6. In a bowl, combine the other 1/4 cup brown sugar, walnuts, oats and apple sauce to create the "crumble".

  7. Once combined, layer on top of apple mixture.

  8. Place in oven for 40 minutes.
