We make this casserole every year around Christmastime. It's a delicious treat that goes perfectly with pumpkin pie.

Recipe Ingredients for Creole Mirliton Casserole

5 chayote (5-3/4") Chayote, Fruit
3/4 cup Bread Crumbs Italian Style
6 oz Shrimp, Mixed Species
1/2 medium raw Bell Pepper Green
1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions
1 cup, diced Celery
2 clove Garlic

Recipe Directions for Creole Mirliton Casserole

Boil the mirlitons until soft and tender. Drain and transfer to a skillet and saute with other vegetables until soft. Add shrimp; saute until the shrimp are pink. Transfer to a glass baking dish and add breadcrumbs before baking in a medium-heat oven until brown and bubbly.
