Recipe Ingredients for creole boilied fish

3 lbs cod
1 quart boiling water
1 carrot, sliced
1/4 cup celery leaves
2 tsp vinegar or lemon juice
1 clove garlic or small onion, sliced
1 tsp,+leaves thyme
1 tsp,+crumbled bay leaf
4 tbsp whole cloves
1 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for creole boilied fish

  1. 1. Use a lean fish such as redfish, red snapper, halibut, pike, bass, or cod.

  2. 2. Clean and wash whole fish thoroughly; wipe sliced fish with damp cloth.

  3. 3. Lay sliced fish in wire basket; entwine whole fish with cord.

  4. 4. Heat water, vegetables, and seasonings to boiling point, and simmer for 10 minutes.

  5. 5. Add fish carefully, and simmer 10 to 20 minutes, according to thickness of fish.

  6. 6. Fish is done when it can be pulled from the bone.

  7. 7. Remove basket of fish scales and drain, or use perforated spatula to remove whole fish.

  8. 8. Place on hot platter; garnish as desired, serve with a fish sauce.
