Recipe Ingredients for Creamy Scalloped Potatoes

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 cups milk
3 medium potatoes
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon butter

Recipe Directions for Creamy Scalloped Potatoes

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt 2 tablespoons butter over low heat. Stir in flour and seasonings. Cook over low heat, stirring until smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.

  2. In greased 1-quart casserole, layer half the potatoes, all the onion and half the sauce. Top with remaining potatoes and sauce. Dot with 1 teaspoon butter.

  3. Cover and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake until potatoes ate tender, about 35 minutes.
