Sweet creamed sauerkraut- without the cream

Recipe Ingredients for Creamed Sauerkraut

1/2 sweet onion
2 T butter
3 T olive oil
5 T flour
5 cups sauerkraut

Recipe Directions for Creamed Sauerkraut

  1. Sauté onion in 2 T olive oil until well browned on medium heat

  2. Add remaining oil and butter, warm through

  3. Add flour (either white flour or rice flour)

  4. Stir flour into butter and onions and continue heating until flour browns to a soft brown sugar tone

  5. Add sauerkraut and continue stirring until warmed through

  6. A small amount of water may need to be added if the kraut doesn't have some water in it

  7. Result should be quite creamy, not thick and gloopy
