Recipe Ingredients for Cranberry sauce with dried cherries and cloves

2 1/2 cups cider, cherry cider or black cherry cider or cranberry juice cocktail
8 ounce dried cherries, tart (about 2 cups)
1 cup sugar
12 ounce cranberries
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, (generous)

Recipe Directions for Cranberry sauce with dried cherries and cloves

  1. Bring cider to simmer in heavy, large saucepan.

  2. Remove from heat. Add cherries and let stand 8 minutes.

  3. Mix in sugar, then cranberries and cloves.

  4. Cook over medium-high heat until cranberries burst, stirring occasionally, about 9 minutes.

  5. Refrigerate until cold, about 4 hours (sauce will thicken as it cools).

  6. (Can be prepared 4 days ahead. Cover and keep refrigerated.)
