A delicious cranberry orange bread. My family usually has it for breakfast.

Recipe Ingredients for cranberry bread

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup orange juice
1 egg
1 tsp. orange rind
2 cups cranberries
1/2 cup walnuts

Recipe Directions for cranberry bread

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, powder, soda and salt. Cut in shortening until it resembles cornmeal. Mix together orange juice, egg and rind in separate container. Pour all at once into dry ingredients, mixing just enough to moisten. Fold in cranberries and walnuts.

  2. Grease loaf pan. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and bake for 1 hour.
