Crumble, crisp dessert from Cooking Light - Nov. 2007. Make Topping ahead (flour - butter) and freeze (for up to 2 months) until ready to use.

Recipe Ingredients for Cranberry-Apple Crumble

1/4 cup Craisins
1 tbsp lemon juice
4 cups apples, peeled cored and chopped
1/4 cup flour
6 tbsp brown sugar
6 tbsp flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
3 tbsp butter, chilled and cut into small pieces

Recipe Directions for Cranberry-Apple Crumble

  1. Preheat oven to 350.

  2. Filling: Combine first 3 ingredients, tossing well.

  3. Place apple mixture in 11 x 7 inch baking dish coated with cooking spray.

  4. Topping: combine flour and next 5 ingredients (through nutmeg), stirring well with a whisk. Cut in butter with pastry blender til mixture resembles coarse meal. Freeze til ready to use OR sprinkle evenly over apple mixture.

  5. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until filling is bubbly and topping is golden.

  6. Serve with vanilla ice cream or cream or whipped cream.

  7. One serving - 1/2 cup of crumble.
