Recipe Ingredients for Countryside Pasta Toss

112 g (2 cups dry) Rotini Tri-Color pasta , Barilla rotini
3/4 lb new potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch wedges
1 cup broccoli
1 cup carrots, baby size or sliced
1/2 cup snap peas
1 tsp margarine
1 tsp olive oil, or forgo margarine altogether and double olive oil
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
1 tsp dill, dried
1 tbsp onion, sweet or red and shaved
1/4 tsp salt, plus more to taste
2 links Al Fresco Italian Style , chicken sausage or low fat low sodium ham

Recipe Directions for Countryside Pasta Toss

  1. Cook and drain pasta as directed on package. While pasta is cooking, place steamer basket in 1/2 inch water in 3 quart saucepan (water should not touch the bottom of steamer basket). Place potatoes, broccoli, and carrots in basket. Cover tightly and heat to boiling, reduce heat to medium-low. Steam 5 minutes. Add pea pods. Cover and steam about 2 minutes longer or until potatoes are tender and veggies are crisp.

  2. Place vegetables in bowl. Add margarine, olive oil, parsley, dill weed, onion and salt; toss until coated. Stir in ham and pasta; toss.
