Country Steaks Recipe

tender cube steaks cooked in a dutch oven

Recipe Ingredients for country steaks

2 lbs sirloin steak
1 cup flour
3 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp thyme
2 1/2 cups chicken stock

Recipe Directions for country steaks

  1. pre heat oven to 300

  2. Pound steaks to 1/4 inch thick (or have it tenderized by the butcher)

  3. salt and pepper to taste

  4. Dredge in flour, both sides

  5. Heat oil in dutch oven on Med high heat

  6. brown steaks both on sides

  7. remove from pot

  8. wisk 2.5 cups chicken stock and thyme into pot

  9. let boil one minute

  10. return steaks to pot, make sure all are covered by liquid

  11. Cover and put in oven (middle rack) for 1.5-2 hours until tender
