Old Italian recipe Lasagna (Real sauce made from tomatoes and simmered for 5 hours) this just cuts time but still requires simmering.

Recipe Ingredients for Country Lasanga

1 lb Pasta
1 lb ground beef
1 lb italian sausage
46 oz tomato sauce
1 med onion
1 lb mozzarella cheese
1 lb provolone cheese
2 tbs parsley
8 Garlic cloves
2 tbs rosemary
2 tbs oregano
4 tbs parmesan cheese
12 oz ricotta cheese
12 oz cottage cheese
2 large eggs

Recipe Directions for Country Lasanga

  1. Brown the beef crumbles and the Sausage. I usually use links for the sausage. After meat is browned, cut Sausage links into small bite size pieces and add in the parsley, rosemary, oregano, garlic, and onion. Let simmer covered for 20 minutes.

  2. Add the Tomato Sauce let simmer 30 minutes.

  3. Mix riccota, cottage cheese, parmesan, and eggs and set aside.

  4. Use a deep Lasagna throw away pan. Start with small amount of sauce on the bottom of the pan. Place first layer of Lasagna noodles (uncooked)on the sauce. Layer in following order.

  5. mozzarella/provolone thin layer, noodles, meat sauce, noodles, riccota mixture, noodles, meat sauce, noodles, mozzerella/provolone, noodles, meat sauce, mozzerella/provlone.

  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 and a half hours with tin foil on top.

  7. Remove tin foil top and brown top cheese.

  8. Serve.
