Variation: substitute lamb for beef. Serves 4-5

Recipe Ingredients for Cottage Pie

1 tbsp canola oil
2 medium onions
500 g Beef
1 Serving Gravy Powder Dry
250 ml beef stock
30 ml parsley
10 ml soy sauce
1 pinch pepper
1 pinch salt

Recipe Directions for Cottage Pie

  1. Heat oil and fry onions until soft. Add the mince, cook and stir until meat has turned brown.

  2. Sprinkle with gravy powder, mixing well. Add beef stock and cook and stir until it comes to a boil.

  3. Adjust the thickness of the gravy to your taste by adding water or stock. Add the parsley, soy sauce and pepper.

  4. Check the seasoning and add salt to taste.

  5. Turn into a greased oven-proof dish and spread the mashed potatoes over it, roughening the surface with a fork. Bake at 190 C until potato is brown and crisp (about 30 minutes), finishing it under the grill if necessary.
