Slightly chewy thin biscuits with mixed spice, cinnamon and ginger.

Recipe Ingredients for Cornish fairings

100 g plain flour
50 g margarine
2 tbsp golden syrup
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp mixed spice
1/4 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp bicarbonate of soda

Recipe Directions for Cornish fairings

  1. mix flour and spices and bicarb.

  2. rub in margarine to form breadcrumb like texture

  3. gently melt golden syrup and add to flour mix to make a soft sticky dough

  4. oven at 180d C

  5. grease 2 baking trays

  6. roll into cherry sized balls

  7. bake in oven for 10 mins

  8. remove tray and bang on side to make biscuits 'crack'

  9. bake further 5 mins

  10. remove from baking tray immediately and allow to cool
