Recipe Ingredients for Cornbread - with whole wheat flour

1 1/2 cups cornmeal
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1 cup milk

Recipe Directions for Cornbread - with whole wheat flour

  1. Stir all dry ingredients together.

  2. Melt shortening in the microwave.

  3. Mix egg and milk together and stir slightly into dry ingredients.

  4. Add melted shortening and stir only until just mixed.

  5. Let sit 20 minutes.

  6. Bake in the oven at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until barely golden brown across the top.

  7. Serve hot!
