If you like extra sweetness you can put in 2-3 Tablespoons of sugar but that will change the nutritional information.

Recipe Ingredients for Cornbread w/honey

1/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups of corn meal
1 cup flour
1/4 cup of honey
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup skim milk
2 eggs

Recipe Directions for Cornbread w/honey

  1. Heat oven to 425 F

  2. Heat shortening in dish (8X8 or 9X9)

  3. Combine dry ingredients

  4. In a separate bowl mix milk and eggs, then add to dry ingredients

  5. Pour in melted shortening

  6. Pour everything into dish

  7. Bake 20 - 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean
