Cornbread that is made more healthy by using whole wheat flour and rye flour instead of regular white flour.

Recipe Ingredients for Corn-Rye Bread

1 cup corn meal
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup dark rye flour
3/10 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
0.33 cup canola oil
1 cup fat free milk

Recipe Directions for Corn-Rye Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.

  2. Collect all ingredients to be ready to mix.

  3. Have a larger bowl for the dry ingredients and a smaller bowl for the egg and wet ingredients.

  4. Prepare a pan, such as an 8 inch baking pan or cast iron frying pan, by coating with Pam or oil.

  5. Mix all dry ingredients in the larger bowl.

  6. Whisk egg in the smaller bowl.

  7. Mix all wet ingredients in the bowl with the whisked egg.

  8. Then, mix all ingredients together in the larger bowl.

  9. Mix only until combined.

  10. Do not overmix.

  11. Pour into a prepared pan.

  12. Bake for 20 minutes or until a tooth pick test shows it is done..
