1 cup Cornmeal, Whole-grain, Yellow
1 cup (8 fl oz) Water
1 cup (8 fl oz) Water
4 1/2 grams Salt, Table
1 1/2 tbsp Vegetable Oil, Canola
100 grams Onions
1 tsp Pepper, Red Or Cayenne
1/2 cup Beans, Pinto, dry

Recipe Directions for Corn Pone with Pinto Beans

  1. Soak the beans then cook them in 1 cup water with chopped onion and cayenne until thoroughly tender; add tsp salt.

  2. Mix the cornmeal with 1 cup boiling water and tsp salt; form into patties and pan-fry them in the oil on both sides until golden-brown.

  3. Put 'em together and eat.
