Recipe Ingredients for Corn Bread (Southern)

1 1/2 cup corn meal
1/2 cup unbleached flour
1/4 cup olive oil
1 egg
1 3/4 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda

Recipe Directions for Corn Bread (Southern)

  1. Preheat oven to 400.

  2. Grease 8 or 9 in square pan.

  3. Combine dry ingredients.

  4. Add oil, egg and buttermilk.

  5. Stir to blend.

  6. Pour into prepared pan.

  7. Bake approx. 25 min.
