From La Fourchette Compiled 1951 by The Bayou Woman's Club of Thibodaux, Lousiana 5th Edition 1987

Recipe Ingredients for Corn Bread

1 cup cornmeal
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 egg
1 cup milk
3 tsps baking powder
1/4 cup oil
1/2 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Corn Bread

  1. Sift together corn meal, flour, baking powder and salt.

  2. Beat egg, add milk and shortening or oil.

  3. Add to dry ingredients stirring just enought to moisten.

  4. Pour into greased pan or into cupcake pan (makes 15 cupcakes). Bake at 400 degrees F. for 30 minutes
