The only change I made was adding onion and excluding italian sausage. A serving is about a cup, or serve more with salad and bread for a meal.

Recipe Ingredients for Cooking Light's Pasta e Fagioli

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, diced
1 1/2 tablespoons bottled minced garlic
1 cup water
16 ounce fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
8 ounce no-salt-added tomato sauce
56 grams small shell pasta (uncooked, about 4 ounces)
1/2 cup parmesean cheese, grated
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
3 cups (about two cans) cannellini beans, drained

Recipe Directions for Cooking Light's Pasta e Fagioli

  1. Saute onions and garlic.

  2. Add broth and water to deglaze. Add liquids and bring to a boil. Add remaining ingredients (reserving some cheese for topping) and boil until pasta is done (don't overcook).

  3. Top with remaining cheese, and add red pepper flakes and parsley if desired. A serving is about one cup.
