Grandma's version of Italian Wedding Cookies

Recipe Ingredients for Cookies: Holiday Nuggets

12 serving Shortening
0.25 cup Butter
0.75 cup Powdered Sugar
1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Almond Extract
0.5 cup Almonds
0.5 tsp Salt, Table
2 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached

Recipe Directions for Cookies: Holiday Nuggets

  1. Preheat oven to 325.

  2. Blend until smooth: 1/4C butter, 3/4C shortening, and 1/2C powdered sugar.

  3. Add 1Tbsp vanilla, 1Tsp almond extract, and 1/2C chopped almonds.

  4. Add in 2C flour and 1/2Tsp salt, mix until dough is crumbly.

  5. Roll cookies into balls using 1/2Tbsp for each cookie. Place on baking sheet about 1.5 inches apart and slightly press down.

  6. Bake for 13 minutes.

  7. Place 1/4C powdered suagr in a bowl.

  8. Allow cookies to cool for ten minutes, and while slightly warm, roll in powdered sugar.

  9. Enjoy!
