Cooked cabbage the way my ex husband's "mama" used to make it-12 1 c servings

Recipe Ingredients for Cooked cabbage

2 heads cabbage
1 large yellow onion
2 tbsp seasoned salt
4 bacon
3 tbsp vegetable oil

Recipe Directions for Cooked cabbage

  1. OK first off use bacon grease, not veg oil - they didn't have that option in the database.

  2. Cut the bottoms off the cabbages & rinse well.

  3. Slice the cabbage whichever way suits you best (slices, diced, cubed, whatever) - just make sure it's cut up

  4. Put it in a large pot

  5. Add about 1/2 c water and 3-4 T bacon grease.

  6. Add the bacon slices, ALREADY COOKED, however you want (crumbled, whole, cut in halves, whatever)

  7. Put the seasoned salt on top.

  8. Cover and cook on Medium, till you smell the cabbage cooking.

  9. Stir & lower the temp.

  10. Every time you stir it (about every 10 min), lower the temp.

  11. When the cabbage is wilted/cooked (almost translucent), it's done.

  12. Serve to hungry folks! This is good stuff!
