The red, orange, and green colors of the craisins, apricots, and pumpkin seeds mixed with the browned flakes appeal to my eye, but the nuts and dried fruits can be varied. A quarter cup of frozen blueberries tops it off and makes the milk very cold and refreshing on a hot summer day. 1/2 cup servings.

Recipe Ingredients for Colorful Granola

6 cups rolled oats
2 cups barley, flakes
2 cups rye flakes
2 cups pumpkin seeds
2 cups cashews
1 cup flax seed
1 cup dry milk
2/3 cup oil
1 cup honey
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 cups craisins
2 cups dried apricots

Recipe Directions for Colorful Granola

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Mix flakes, nuts, and milk. Warm the oil, honey, water, and vanilla in a small saucepan to blend well. Pour over and mix well with the dry ingredients.

  3. Spread evenly on two 12"x17" jelly roll pan. Bake for about 20-30 minutes until browned, stirring every 5-10 minutes.

  4. Allow to cool in a large bowl. Add dried fruits. Store in airtight containers.
