Easy one-pot meal for a cold evening

Recipe Ingredients for Classic Pot Roast

40 oz beef roast
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp dried basil
2 Bouillon Cubes
1/4 tsp salt
3 potatoes
4 carrots
1/4 cup flour

Recipe Directions for Classic Pot Roast

  1. Brown roast on all sides in oil in large pot.

  2. Dissolve bouillon in 3/4 cup hot water. Combine with worcestershire sauce and salt. Crush basil in your hands, add to broth.

  3. Pour broth over roast in pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour.

  4. Peel and quarter potatoes, peel and chop carrots into 2-inch pieces. Add vegetables to pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 45-60 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.

  5. Transfer meat and vegetables to a serving platter, keep warm.

  6. For gravy, measure juices, skim fat. Add water to equal 1 1/2 cups and return to pot. In a small bowl mix flour and 1/2 cup water. Stir into broth in pot. Cook and stir until thick and bubble. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with meat and vegetables.
