Recipe Ingredients for Classic French Bread

1 cup whole wheat flour
2 1/2 cup Bread Flour
1 1/4 cup (8 fl oz) Water
3/4 tsp Salt, Table
0.33 oz Yeast

Recipe Directions for Classic French Bread

  1. Add all ingredients to bread machine pan in order suggested by manufacture. Select dough/manual cycle.

  2. When cycle is complete remove dough to lightly floured surface. Knead in enough flour to make easy to handle, if neccesary. Divide dough in half and roll each half into 10x8" rectangle. Beginning at long end roll up tightly. Taper end by gently rolling back and forth. Cover and let rise until almost double in size, 10-15 min.

  3. With sharp knife make 3 or 4 diagonal cuts about 1/4" deep across top of each loaf. Bake 375 for 20 - 30 min. Bread should sound hollow when tapped.
