substantial and tasty recipe from Clarissa's Comfort Food by Clarissa Dickson Wright (which I highly recommend). The recipe includes 12 large prawns and 3 hard boiled eggs which I left out as may partner doesn't like them. I you want to use these add them after the fish.

Recipe Ingredients for clarissa fish pie

25 g Danish Butter Unsalted
25 g White Flour, Unbleached
425 ml milk
35 g sherry
1 tsp olive oil
2 onions
1 garlic clove
250 g spinach
240 g Haddock, Smoked
240 g Haddock
250 g cod
145 g salmon
6 potatoes
50 g Cheese

Recipe Directions for clarissa fish pie

  1. cook and mash potatoes and put aside

  2. grate cheese and put aside

  3. melt butter and add flour to make a roux

  4. add milk and sherry to make fairly thick white sauce

  5. preheat oven to 150c/350f/gas 4

  6. fry onions and garlic in the olive oil until soft

  7. put the spinach in the bottom of your pie dish followed by the onions and garlic.

  8. arrange the fish (cut into pieces)

  9. pour over the sauce

  10. cover with the potato and sprinkle with the cheese

  11. bake in oven for 45 mins
