Recipe Ingredients for Cinnamon Raisin Bagels

4 cups bread flour
1 tbls sugar
1 1/2 tsps salt
1 tbls vegetable oil
2 tsps instant yeast
1 cups water
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/3 cup raisins

Recipe Directions for Cinnamon Raisin Bagels

  1. Mix all ingredients and combine thoroughly.

  2. Knead dough for 10 minutes. Add extra water as necessary to combine it all, but you'll want a fairly dry, elastic dough.

  3. Separate dough into 8 balls and let rest for 15-20 minutes.

  4. Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Take each ball and punch a hole through with your thumb, rotating the ball of dough around until you form a fairly uniform ring.

  5. Set rings aside to rest another 20 minutes. Meanwhile, boil a pot of water.

  6. When water comes to a full boil, drop bagels into the pot 2-3 at a time and boil for a minute or so on each side, or until they puff up to twice their size.

  7. Transfer boiled bagels to a cookie sheet and bake at 500 degrees for 10 minutes, then flip them over and bake another 10 minutes.

  8. Remove from oven and allow them to cool before eating.
