Chunky tomato and meat sauce for pasta

Recipe Ingredients for Chunky Tomato Ragout

3/4 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground sausage
1/3 cup onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tbs. butter
32 oz tomato sauce
15 oz canned tomatoes
6 oz tomato paste
1 tsp italian seasoning
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

Recipe Directions for Chunky Tomato Ragout

  1. In a heavy skillet, brown beef and sausage.

  2. While the meat is browning, saute the onion and garlic in the butter in a medium saucepan.

  3. Once the onion and garlic are translucent and soft, add the tomato sauce, canned tomatoes, tomato paste and seasonings.

  4. Drain the beef and sausage and add to the sauce.

  5. Bring just to a boil over med/high heat, then reduce to low and simmer for 30 minutes.

  6. Serve over your favorite pasta.
