Rich tomato sauce with beef served on thin spaghetti and topped with parmesan. A hearty meal for a cold winters night...this is fantastic with good italian sausages in it also but my tip the fat content a little high!

Recipe Ingredients for Chunky Italian bolognaise

1 tbspn olive oil
1 clove garlic (finely chopped)
1/2 g chilli pepper (finely chopped)
2 onions (finely chopped)
2 anchovies
600 g Beef shanks sliced through bone
150 ml red wine
3 cans tomatoes
1 salt
1 pepper
6 g fresh basil
3 g fresh oregano
6 g fresh parsley
40 g parmesan grated
1 box Barilla Spaghetti thin dry

Recipe Directions for Chunky Italian bolognaise

  1. Heat oil in pan over medium heat, add garlic, chilli, onions and anchovies, cook till onions are translucent.

  2. Add beef - seal.

  3. Pour in red wine and turn up heat so it boils, reduce heat and add tomatoes, simmer for 1 1/2 hours..

  4. Taste sauce, season as required.. add roughly chopped herbs.

  5. Serve with spaghetti cooked as per packet directions and top with grated parmesan
