Deep fried or baked "Pigs in a Blanket" with a new whole wheat twist.

Recipe Ingredients for Chum's Whole Wheat Bannock Dogs

454 g hot dog, weiners
1 1/2 c flour
1 1/2 c whole wheat flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp powdered milk
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1 c water

Recipe Directions for Chum's Whole Wheat Bannock Dogs

  1. Boil weiners.

  2. Heat deep frying oil.

  3. Sift and mix dry ingredients in a bowl, mix well, make a hallow in the center then add liquid ingredients.

  4. Knead 5-7 times then roll out.

  5. Cut dough into 12 rectangles.

  6. Individually wrap each weiner ensuring that it is fully covered and sealed in the dough.

  7. Drop wrapped weiners in hot oil to deep fry until golden brown. Place on paper towels to absorb the oil. ***Or they may be baked on a cookie sheet @ 375 degrees F for 20 minutes. Turning after 10 minutes.
