Makes 4 dozen (more or less, depending on size of cookie cutters).

Recipe Ingredients for Christmas cutout cookies

226 g. unsalted butter, 2 sticks softened
227 g. sugar, 1 cup
100 g. eggs, 2 large beaten
9 g. vanilla, 2 tsp.
464 g. flour, 3 1/2 c.
9 g. baking powder, 2 tsp.

Recipe Directions for Christmas cutout cookies

  1. Cream softened butter, sugar, beaten eggs, and vanilla until fluffy.

  2. Sift together flour and baking powder. Blend with other ingredients gradually at low mixer speed.

  3. Chill dough in refrigerator.

  4. Tear off to 1/3 of dough (return the rest to refrigerator for now), form a ball, and roll on a floured board inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters and place on greased cookie sheet. Decorate with colored sugar, etc. (icing goes on cooled cookies after baking).

  5. Bake 10?15 minutes at 375 degrees. Cool on rack.

  6. Repeat with remaining chilled dough.
