Curried chickpeas - a real favorite!

Recipe Ingredients for Chole Chaat

28 oz canned chickpeas
2 T oil
1/2 onion, chopped
1 t coriander, ground
1 t cumin, ground
1/4 t turmeric, ground
1 t garam masala
1 T ginger, grated
7 oz canned tomatoes, drained
1/2 t salt

Recipe Directions for Chole Chaat

  1. Cook onion in oil until golden brown.

  2. Add coriander, cumin, turmeric and garam masala, fry for 1 minute.

  3. Add ginger, tomato and salt to taste, stir until well mixed.

  4. Drain chickpeas, mash one cup, then add all to tomato mixture with 14 oz. water.

  5. Boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
