This has been passed down through our family for a very long time. If you like chocolate, you will love this.

Recipe Ingredients for Chocolate Pound Cake

1 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 cup cocoa
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for Chocolate Pound Cake

  1. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; add to mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix just until blended after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325 for 1 hour 25 - 30 min.
