Recipe Ingredients for chocolate penut butter bars

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 egg
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
6 oz chocolate chips, semisweet

Recipe Directions for chocolate penut butter bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350 deg. F

  2. In a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed, beat butter with sugars until smooth.

  3. Add in egg, peanut butter, and vanilla until well blended.

  4. In another bowl, whisk together flours, wheat germ, oats, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Stir or beat the dry ingredients into butter mixture until smooth, scraping down sides of bowl as needed.

  6. Stir in chocolate chips.

  7. Spread dough evenly into a buttered 8-inch square baking pan.

  8. Bake until pale golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes.

  9. Let cool, then cut into 12 pieces.
