These are what my husband and I use in replace of the P90X or any other protein bars on the market. Less saturated fat and simple sugars as well as more fiber.

Recipe Ingredients for Chocolate Nut Protein bars

1 1/2 c oats
1 1/4 c raisins
2/3 c almonds, raw
2 T natural peanut butter
1 T honey
6 T applesauce, natural
8 scoops whey protein powder

Recipe Directions for Chocolate Nut Protein bars

  1. Place almonds and oats in a food processor. Pulse until forms into a powder (note: you can make this as fine or "chunky" as you prefer).

  2. Add the raisins and pulse again until they are well combined.

  3. Add whey powder; pulse until combined.

  4. Add PB, honey, and 1/2 applesauce; pulse until the mixture pulls together into a ball. Continue to add applesauce as needed. ** You should be able to press these into bars, but do not want them TOO sticky or wet. If this happens, add more oats or protein powder.

  5. Remove from the bowl and form into 10 even bars. Use a scale if you want to be exact.

  6. Wrap bars individually in waxed paper and store in the refrigerator.
