Recipe Ingredients for Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. butter or shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. water
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for Chocolate Chip Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 375. Sift together flour, baking soda & salt; set aside. Combine butter or shortening, sugars **, eggs, vanilla & water; beat until creamy (about 3-5 min.) and has changed to light color. Add flour mixture; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto silpat-lined cookie sheet (this way you don't need to grease the cookie sheet). Bake for 8-10 min. (remove when they are just starting to be golden; they will darken as they sit on top of the stove, cooling a bit before you transfer them to the cooling rack).

  2. **Measure the brown & white sugars into separate bowls. Add one more tbsp. of brown sugar to the brown sugar, and remove one tbsp. of white sugar from the white sugar. This is a small thing, but makes a big difference in taste.
