A lightly flavored chocolate angel food cake

Recipe Ingredients for Chocolate Angel Food Cake

12 egg whites
3/4 cup unbleached flour
2 cups Splenda granular
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt

Recipe Directions for Chocolate Angel Food Cake

  1. Let egg whites stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

  2. Fold or sift flour, 1/2 cup of the Splenda and cocoa together until well mixed. Set aside.

  3. In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt on high speed until soft peaks form. Add remaining Splenda a little at a time and beat well after each addition.

  4. Gradually fold in sifted dry ingredients. Gently spoon into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan.

  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched and cracks feel dry.

  6. Immediately invert pan and cool. When cool, remove cake by running a knife around the edge to loosen.
