Recipe Ingredients for Chinese Braised Mushrooms and Tofu

1 T Oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 t minced fresh garlic
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
18 g g) Chili Garlic Sauce
1 1/4 c vegetable broth
18 g g) 2 (30 mL g) dry sherry
2 T reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 T brown sugar
14 oz firm tofu, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
8 oz snow peas
1 T water
1 1/2 t cornstarch

Recipe Directions for Chinese Braised Mushrooms and Tofu

  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 30 sec. Add mushrooms and chili-garlic sauce and cook, stirring occasionally, until most of the mushroom liquid has evaporated, 4 - 6 minutes.

  2. Add broth, sherry, soy sauce, brown sugar, tofu and snow peas and bring to a simmer. Cook sitrring occasionally and adjusting the heat as necessary to maintain a simmer, for 10 minutes to blend flavors.

  3. Combine water and corn starch in a small bowl. Stir the mixture into the saucepan and simmer until the sauce is thickened, about 2 minutes.
