Recipe Ingredients for Chili Relleno Bake

8 oz whole green chilies, canned
3 c. Monterey Jack cheese, grated
1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated sharp
1 T flour
2 eggs
2 T milk, skimmed
6 oz tomato sauce
4 T oil
4 T flour

Recipe Directions for Chili Relleno Bake

  1. Cut green chili strips.

  2. Alternate layers of chilies and cheese in 9 inch oiled square dish.

  3. Beat 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon flour, and 2 tablespoons milk.

  4. Pour over mix.

  5. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes.

  6. Heat oil and brown flour in it.

  7. Mix liquid and tomato sauce;

  8. Add slowly to oil and flour. Stir well.

  9. Add salt and pepper

  10. Cook over low heat until thick.

  11. Serve hot.
