A one cup serving. Using ground turkey only saves 2 more calories. I use bison because it has less of the bad stuff (hormones, antibiotics & who knows what else) than ground beef. Use beef if you have a good supply of grass fed beef.

Recipe Ingredients for Chili

1 cup Meal Starters Grillers Recipe Crumbles
3/4 cups salsa
3/4 cups onion, diced
1/4 cups green pepper, diced
2 tsp. cumin
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 tsp. oregano
2 oz green chilies, chopped
2 cups black beans
4 cups water

Recipe Directions for Chili

  1. Prepare the beans according to package directions for a quick soak.

  2. Brown bison in a non-stick skillet.

  3. Add onions and green pepper, cover and reduce heat for about 5 min.

  4. Return heat and cook away the moisture.

  5. Add spices, stir and then tomatoes & chilies.

  6. Dump the meat mixture in with the beans, cover with enough water (which is approximately one inch above the chili mixture ) and simmer till the beans are done.

  7. Salt to taste.
