Chili made from fresh plum tomatoes. 4 cans of prepared beans (red, light red and black) were used in lieu of 2.25 c dried beans. Yummy. Cumin estimated. When made, I used too much cumin the first time.

Recipe Ingredients for Chili with hamburger

2 1/4 c kidney beans
2 1/2 pounds ground beef, 85% lean
5 pounds plum tomatoes
1/2 cup chili powder
3 T cumin
1 1/2 T salt
1 t pepper
4 medium onions
1 T garlic, granulated
1 t oregano

Recipe Directions for Chili with hamburger

  1. Chop up tomatoes in chopper to small pieces.

  2. Boil down tomatoes to about 2/3 of original amount.

  3. Chop onion and add to tomatoes

  4. Add beans, spices.

  5. Let cook for 2 to 3 hours.

  6. Add cayenne pepper, if desired.
